DPS Telecom's Capabilities (Text Version)

This is a text-only description of DPS Telecom's capabilities (approximately 500 words). Because it contains many keywords and specific technology names, is suitable for upload into your internal, searchable database of vendor capabilities.

DPS Telecom designs, manufactures, and supports equipment for: alarm monitoring, SCADA, remote power switching, building access control (keypads and proximity card readers), security monitoring (surveillance IP cameras and intrusion detection).

DPS is ISO9001:2000 certified. DPS equipment meets telco-grade durability standards, passes internal and independent stress tests, and is built within all-metal chasses that are powder-coated for durability.

DPS produces a multi-protocol alarm master station called T/Mon. T/Mon accepts alarms in SNMP (functions as SNMP manager), ASCII text (any device that prints to a screen or paper), Badger, Calix, Cordell, Datalok, DCM, DCP, DNP3, E2, E2A, Felix, Granger, Modbus, NEC, TABS, TBOS, TL1.

T/Mon can also send ICMP pings on timed intervals and provide an alert when a network-enabled (IP LAN) device fails to respond to successive pings. T/Mon can also perform a similar "ping" function using higher-level SNMP GETs for superior uptime verification.

T/Mon displays alerts via email, pager, text message, T/Mon GFX geographical map software featuring Microsoft MapPoint®, graphical Windows® software called T/Windows, and a built-in web interface. Alarms may also be forwarded to a higher-level SNMP manager or a master of masters (MOM).

T/Mon is frequently used in this way to mediate legacy and proprietary equipment alarms to your existing SNMP manager. T/Mon may be remotely accessed via LAN, serial, or dial-up connection. T/Mon supports automatic history reporting, trending, and root cause analysis (RCA).

DPS also productes a full line of alarm remotes (RTUs, remote terminal units, remote telemetry units). The NetGuardian 832A includes 32 discrete alarm inputs, 32 ping alarms, 8 analog inputs, 8 control relays (Form-C), and 8 terminal server serial ports.

It also includes an on-board 10/100BaseT LAN switch to provide Ethernet to several external devices. You can use the 8 serial ports to remotely access older serial equipment that would otherwise be unreachable. This RTU requires only 1 RU of rack space (19- or 23-inch rack width).

A smaller NetGuardian 216 model has roughly half the capacity and functions of the NetGuardian 832A.

NetGuardian remotes can call your phone with voice alerts, send SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3 traps to multiple SNMP managers, send emails, send text messages to your cell phone.

You can also access alarms and operate control relays via a built-in web interface. Newer models include Web 2.0 interfaces. Some RTUs have a wireless GSM or CDMA connectivity option. Any standard 0-5v or 4-20mA sensor may be attached to the analog inputs of a DPS RTU.

Typical sensors include: temperature, humidity, fuel (propane, diesel, etc.) level, battery voltage/level, commercial power voltage/failure, current flow, water level, flood/leak, motion, and smoke detector.

The SiteMON IP surveillance camera includes several alarm inputs and built-in temperature monitoring. Because DPS Telecom is vertically integrated, you should contact them if you can't find the right product for your project. Engineering and Manufacturing are both housed at the Fresno, CA headquarters, so turnaround times for custom work are dramatically faster than the industry average. Also, the typical minimum order to get your custom project started is only 11 units.
