Whether you're new to our equipment or you've used it for years, DPS factory training is the best way to get more from your monitoring.
Reserve Your Seat TodayYou may have a corporate policy that says you must use encrypted SNMPv3. The rule might also come from a governmental regulation. Essentially, they don't want unencrypted SNMP traps flying around the network anymore.
That presents a challenge, because you probably have a lot of network equipment can last 10 years, 20 years, or sometimes even more. So how do you handle all this equipment and make sure that it supports SNMP?
It just can't do encrypted SNMP v3 on its own. There's never going to be a firmware update or anything like that. We can't just tear it out and buy a bunch of new equipment. How can we preserve our investment?
For some applications, you can use a multi-protocol master like T/Mon to convert SNMP to SNMPv3.
The advantage of this approach is that you can convert hundreds of devices with just one converter. Unfortunately, the network traffic between your SNMPv1/v2c gear and T/Mon remains unsecured.
A more secure approach is to install a smaller SNMPv3 conversion device at each of your buildings that have SNMP gear. This requires a larger investment, but unsecured SNMP never leaves the building.
Fortunately, DPS has equipment you can use to execute either option in your network.
